Method 1: Remove the “Social Club” folder

To do this, follow the steps below:

  • Open Windows Explorer.
  • Click on the Local Disk (C:).
  • Double-click the Users
  • Find and double-click your user account’s name.
  • Select Rockstar Games.
  • Locate the Social Club folder and right-click it.
  • Select Delete and confirm action (as prompted).

After deleting the folder, relaunch the game. The “Social Club” files would be automatically downloaded again.

If the “error code 8000” persists after resetting the game as described above, try the next fix.

Method 2: Reboot router

Although, there is no established link between internet connectivity and the error code 8000, some players claimed resetting Wi-Fi router worked for them.

So, not to rule anything out, try and reconnect your Wi-Fi. If the error persists afterwards, proceed with the next fix.

Method 3: Sign in manually

If you encounter this error while using the “auto-sign in” feature, abort and try signing in manually. Simply click on the “Home” menu (if you can see it) and sign in as prompted.
