HTC U11 Gets Android 9.0 Pie Update With New Improvements and Issues

HTC users have complained for years now because of the old versions their smartphones had to remain to. They say it seems that the tech company appears to lack the speed and the effort to update their smartphone series.

Even though a recent update has been rolled out from the company and it sheds a bit of light into HTC’s update plan, users are still awaiting updates at every level. Having said that, it appears that the Android 9.0 Pie release for the HTC U11 is now in the ongoing.

It probably doesn’t matter if we mention that when we say HTC is not doing such a great job at updates, the HTC U11 Life is not among the counted devices. This particular smartphone is an Android One program member. What it means is that these specific Android builds are managed pretty differently than those skinned Android phones.

The OTA update is currently rolling out to HTC smartphones in Taiwan. Even though users expect the update to be released in the following weeks, we still have to see what will happen. However, we count this as a significant step forward.

The upcoming update has a size of 1.36GB. Bearing in mind the fix provided with Android Pie, this is not something we expected. The update also comes with ‘System Enhancements,’ and it removes Google+ from the BlinkFeed. The Google+ service shut down a long time ago, and this is evidence of how long the smartphone has been neglected, not being updated until now.

It is about time this new optimization has started rolling out. To recognize HTC, we have to mention that they kept their promise as they officially confirmed that the update is available and rolling out about two weeks ago. What the problem was, the previous six months with no news or improvements. However, users now get something, though.
