Xiaomi has a new sub-brand named Poco, and it has been the one to enter the market with sub-premium budget devices. Its first debut was with the device called Poco F1, and it’s very similar to Oppo, that has the sub-brand called Realme. The Realme sub-brand is similar to Xiaomi Redmi series name. The first flagship of Poco, the Poco F1 was very well received in the market, and it aimed to replace the OnePlus 6 and Zenfone 5Z. Now we are going to discuss the Poco F2, all the leaks and rumors about the phone, and the release date.

Leaks and Rumors about Poco F2

From December last year until now, many rumors and leaks have been out about Poco F2. Some of them are saying that Xioami will give up on the IR Face Scanner for the Poco F2, that the phone will support Widevine L1 certification, triple rear camera setup and an under display fingerprint sensor. Some famous renders have a poster that Poco F2 features will be a 6.39 FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 855 SOC, dual setup camera, and Android 9.0 Pie. One of the recent leaks has come with an image that suggests a pop-up camera for the phone, and that outside China, the Redmi X will be named Poco F2, and in India will be launched as Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro.

Moreover, recently in May, the company has been teasing the new Redmi phone as the Killer 2.0 (K20), and it’s said to outperform the OnePlus 7. K20 Pro will have a superfast UFS 3.0 storage and Gaming turbo 2.0 Technology. Some of the leaks are confirmed, some of them are not, so not everything is going out it’s true. Because some of the leaks are showing the phone as a luxury device, but its purpose is to be a budget flagship.

Specifications for Poco F2 (Redmi K20 Pro)

Poco F2 will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, with 6GB of RAM and 64GB memory storage, and 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB memory storage. But Xiaomi isn’t going soft with the competitors such as Huawei, Honor, and OnePlus, and the company could introduce a 10GB of RAM version as well. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will have 1 Prime Core with 2.84 GHz and Cortex A76, 3 Performance Core with 2.42 GHz and Cortex A76, and 4 Cores with 1.8 GHz with Cortex A55.

However, the Processor architecture is Qualcomm Kryo 485 CPU 64 Bit with 7nm Process Technology and the GPU is Qualcomm Adreno 640 GPU with video playback – Volumetric VR video playback and 8K 360 VR video playback.  The GPU supports API: OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0 FP, Vulkan 1.1, DX12. Also, the Poco F2 will have a 6.3 inches FHD+ notch display, and a resolution of 1080×2340 + Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Maybe Xioami will add the new water drop notch if the FaceID isn’t out from the phone. The battery will be the same as for the Poco F1, 4.000 mAh.

Besides this, in the camera department of Poco F2, the company will add a triple camera setup to the front camera. But maybe Poco F2 will come just as Poco F1 with a Dual-Camera for a low cost. We have many options for a camera setup for the Poco F2, such as a Telephoto sensos+ regular RGB; a Telephoto and a Wide-angle; a regular RGB with Monochrome sensor, and a high megapixel sensor with regular RGB. Also, the leaks are suggesting a triple camera setup with a 48MP primary camera and an 8Mp Telephoto camera, plus a 13MP Wide-angle sensor.

Poco F2 Software

Xioami is toning down the MIUI version, but maybe Poco F2 will have the Ai integrated into the user interface. Having an AI integrated into the phone, the app will load faster, so this could be a plus for Poco F2.

The Price and the Release Date

Because Poco F2 will have a minor upgrade, its price could be somewhere between $320 and $399 for the 6/8 GB of RAM, and at least $420 for the 10GB of RAM version. We are expecting Poco F2 to be launched in the Q2 of 2019, in India, Hong-Kong Indonesia, Singapore, and other Asian markets, but some rumors say that Xiaomi will launch the Poco F2 in May. The clock is ticking; let’s see if we will receive the phone until the end of May.
