How to publish an app on Google Play Store

  • Sign up for a developer account at https://play.google.com/apps/publish/signup/ with a new or existing Google account. You are required to pay a registration fee of $25.
  • Create a merchant account if you intend to sell your App.
    • Log in to your Google Play console, click on ‘Download Reports’ select ‘Financials.’
    • Click on ‘Set up a merchant account now’ and fill out your business details.
  • Create your App.
    • From your console menu, go to ‘All applications’ tab and click on ‘Create Application.’
    • Choose a default language for your App from the drop-down menu.
    • Give your App a title as you want it to appear in Google Play Store and click on ‘Create.’
  • Set up your App’s store listing. This is the detail that gives users information about your App.
    • From your Google Play Console, select ‘All applications’
    • Select your App and fill the required details under ‘Product Details.’ You should avoid repeating keywords unnecessarily when filling in the title, ‘Short description’ and ‘Full description’ of your App to prevent being suspended on Google Play Store.
  • Graphic assets: Adding screenshots and video. Screenshots are a means of advertising your App’s features and functionality to attract new users.
    • From your Google Play Console, select ‘All applications’
    • Select your App.
    • Click on ‘Store Presence’ and select ‘Store listing’ from the left menu.
    • Upload your screenshot images and a YouTube video if you wish to.
    • Screenshot requirements:
      • Minimum of 2 screenshots, maximum of 8.
      • JPEG o4 24-bit PNG format
      • Dimension: minimum of 320px and maximum of 3840px
      • Aspect ratio: 16:9 (landscape)
    • Add Languages and translations. Your App’s default language is English (US). You can change it and also add translations
      • From your Google Play Console, select ‘All applications’
      • Select your App, go to ‘Product Details.’
      • Select ‘Manage Translations’ and click on ‘Purchase translations’ or ‘Add your translation text.’
    • Categorize your App under ‘Categorization’
    • Fill in your contact details and add a privatization policy
    • Upload and release your apk app file.
    • Rate your App by filling a content rating questionnaire
    • Set up your App as ‘Paid’ or ‘Free.’
    • Review and roll out your App.
