Naughty Dog released The Last of Us Part II in June and became the fastest-selling PS4-exclusive. Even though the significant gameplay and plotline were leaked prior to the release date, the game still performed exceptionally well. The positive reviews, critical acclaim, and commercial success have driven Naughty Dog to work on Part III already.
The new report claims that Naughty Dog is currently working on The Last of Us Part III and Uncharted 5. The recent job listings on the official website of Naughty Dog hints that they are already working on the next-gen single-player game, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Director Neil Druckmann recently revealed that the next thing from the video game company would possibly be The Last of Us Part III.
The Last of Us: Part 3 is the obvious choice for the video game company, considering the success of the previous two installments. While it would possibly take the next two years or more to get the update about Part III, we can possibly expect next-level stuff. Several studios have been working to develop next-generation games for PlayStation 5. Naughty Dog surely doesn’t want to fall behind, and hence we might get a brand new IP from the company.
A New IP
The last time naughty Dog released a new IP was almost seven years ago. The job-listing posted on the website explains the Level/Environment Designer they are seeking must be creative enough to help in building their new narrative-driven content. The reports also claimed that the video game company is trying to transform the creative force into entirely new systems, instead of a third-person shooter as in their three previous IP.
While the next video game is still away, Druckmann is currently working on the television adaptation of The Last of Us. Chernobyl writer Craig Mazin will aid Druckmann in the preparation of the script for television adaption at HBO. Johan Renck who directed the HBO blockbuster Chernobyl will direct the pilot of video game adaptation.
