The best thing that happened in Fox Broadcasting Company recently is the airing of Prodigal Son. The crime-drama is reportedly winning the hearts of the fans, and fans are waiting for more. Fox realized the new dedicated fandom deserves more of Malcolm Bright. So, they renewed the series for the second season in May 2020.
When the fan-favorite Paul Rovia from AMC hit show The Walking Dead appeared in Prodigal Son as Malcolm Bright, fans couldn’t help but started loving the show. Malcolm Bright is the son of the infamous serial killer, Dr. Martin Whitly, who killed more than 20 people in his wild murder spree during the 90s.
Malcolm possesses a unique ability to understand the murder, and seemingly find the culprit. He always sees the crime in the perspective of a killer and reveals the details missed by cops. Malcolm has the extraordinary expertise to read crimes, but his inner demons are making his life more vulnerable. He is afraid that someday he might be the same as his father—the bloodlust and sociopathic tendencies.
Prodigal Son Season 2: Storyline
When the series moves forwards, Malcolm is forced to reunite with his father several times and police to solve crimes. While regularly connecting with his father and fighting inner demons, Malcolm has started showing his own psychopathic tendencies. The second season will possibly dive deep into the mental experiences of Malcolm.
Malcolm has always tried not to be like his father, but the evil in his DNA isn’t making things go smooth. In the first season finale, Malcolm’s sister Ainsley Whitley kills Endicott by slitting his throat and stabbing multiple times. Now, Malcolm will potentially try to sister, which will indirectly and unwillingly lead him to follow the evil. And, inherit the psychopathic tendencies as his father.
Prodigal Son is the only show to receive full season after Fox canceled every other new scripted show. The show has now received a second season order; the network has a lot of faith in the show. The release date is certainly getting delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We can expect the show by summer 2021.
