Godzilla and King Kong are two of the most iconic fictional creatures across the world. And fans had been waiting for ages to see these two colossal beings come face to face. In 2015, Legendary Pictures fulfilled fans’ desire by announcing a Godzilla vs Kong movie. It is also a sequel to 2014’s Godzilla and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island movie. Both of these are part of Legendary’s fictional universe called MonsterVerse. Moreover, this film is supposed to be the 12th movie in the King Kong franchise. And, the 36th movie in the Godzilla franchise.
Godzilla Vs. Kong: Release date
Godzilla Vs. Kong had finished primary filming in April 2019. And it was undergoing post-production work when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world. In addition, the movie’s release had been delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. Until recently, the film was scheduled for a November 20, 2020 release. However, it was recently announced that fans wouldn’t get to see the MonsterVerse film this year. Instead, the movie now has a release date of 21st May, 2o21.
Godzilla Vs. Kong: Possible cast
We can now confirm the set of actors who will be appearing in the upcoming movie. Many of the actors from Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be reprising their roles including
- Millie Bobby Brown as Madison Russell
- Kyle Chandler as Mark Russell
- Zhang Ziyi as Ilene Chen
Furthermore, they’ll be joined by multiple new faces in the film. Alexander Skarsgard will be playing a geologist. Additionally, he is expected to be joined by, Brian Tyree Henry; Rebecca Hall; Julian Dennison, among others.
Godzilla Vs. Kong: Expected Plot
As the title suggests, Godzilla Vs. Kong will focus primarily on the giants facing off. According to the synopsis, Godzilla will be visiting Kong’s island and a confrontation would occur. But you’ll be wrong to assume it’s just that. The upcoming movie is also expected to delve more into the MonsterVerse.
Moreover, it has also been hinted that rival factions would play a part in this massive battle. And among all this, Monarch will have to maintain the balance in the new world order. In fact, the new movie is expected to broaden the scope of the MonsterVerse. Furthermore, we can confirm that the new movie will be set years after the events of Kong: Skull Island.
Godzilla Vs. Kong: Other details
In May 2017, it was announced that Adam Wingard will be helming the upcoming movie. Additionally, Terry Rossio, of the Pirates of the Caribbean and Aladdin fame, will be leading the scriptwriting work for the monster film. Apart from Rossio, the team will feature J.D. Payne, Lindsey Beer, Patrick McKay. Also, renowned music composer Tom Holkenborg will compose the film’s music scores.
Godzilla Vs. Kong: Comments
Film producer Alex Garcia has confirmed that the upcoming movie will not be a remake of the 1962 movie of the same name. Adam Wingard, the director, has also corroborated this by saying that unlike the original movie, the new film will have a definite winner. Furthermore, he has stated that despite being a monster brawler movie, Godzilla Vs. Kong will have plenty of emotional moments.

Unfortunately, a trailer hasn’t been released yet. But we expect it to drop sometime at the end of this year.
