GBWhatsapp claims to be the best-modified version available for WhatsApp on the internet. For almost three months now, users of GBWhatsapp and Whatsapp Plus are getting temporary bans from WhatsApp, making them lose their chats history.
The users that continue to use these two altered versions of Whatsapp are afraid to pass to Facebook’s application because they don’t want to lose their chat history.
To not be permanently banned from using the platform, the users have to make the switch to the official app. We have the steps for you to make the transit from GBWhatsapp to Whatsapp without losing your data.
How to move from GBWhatsApp to WhatsApp without losing your data
To make the switch, you first have to open GBWhatsApp and follow the next steps:
- Go to Settings
- Click on Chats, then on Chat Backup
- Confirm the selection
Before you do this action, check if you have at least 500 MBs of free space to back up your files locally on your Android device.
Once you complete the backup in GBWhatsApp, the next step is to install the official copy of Whatsapp from Google Playstore, but be careful not to open it for now.
From the file manager in your phone, go to the WhatsApp folder and create in it a folder named “Databases.” After completing this action, go to GBWhatsApp folder on your file manager, open the folder called “Databases” and copy the files you see there to the database folder created earlier in the WhatsApp folder.
You can now launch WhatsApp, and in the registration process, you will receive a prompt to restore your chats. If you are not receiving the prompt, go under your phone settings and do the next steps:
- Navigate to Settings
- Under apps manager, select WhatsApp
- Tap on Clear Cache
- Try registering to WhatsApp once again
