*UPDATED* Gran Turismo 7: News, PS5, Release Date, Trailer, Gameplay, GT World & more

The PlayStation 5 is on the way, with Grann Turismo set to be its flagship racing title.

Here’s what we know so far.

Latest News – Release Date speculation

We still have no concrete release date for Gran Turismo7, and although many believe it will be coming at launch on PlayStation 5 this Holiday season – some think otherwise.

As reported by PushSquare, it is likely to arrive in early 2021, with the GT series renowed for coming out later than expected ever since GT 5.

Gran Turismo 7 release date

Fans got their first look at Gran Turismo 7 and it’s safe to say it will be a stunning game.

Racing is what GT does best. Here we have a race around an Alpine circuit.

However, no release date was explicitly given.

The most likely release date in Holiday 2020 side-by-side with the PS5.

It could be as late as Summer 2021 though, so don’t start booking time off to go racing just yet.

Trailer

We got a sneak peak as part of the PS5 Reveal, which you can check out below.

FPS

Now if that trailer quite literally blew you away, you’re not alone. The visuals are a sight to behold.

When it comes to frames per second (FPS), there is a general rule you can follow. The more frames per second, the lower the resolution has to be to accommodate the setting.

Most console games play in 30 FPS, at sometimes 4K, however when you move up to 60 FPS, usually they run at either 720p or 1080p.

We don’t doubt the power of the PS5, but perhaps we’ll see some a setting similar to the first installment’s, where you could lower the graphics to enable a higher frame rate?

Another GT7 trailer coming in August State of Play?

Rumours have been flying that Sony will have a State of Play event in August.

Hopefully, it will have the price and release date of the new console. We are also keeping our fingers crossed that another Gran Turismo 7 trailer or sneak-peek will be included!

Gameplay

In terms of the game that Polyphony is aiming to produce, it looks as you would expect. All beautiful cars, glorious tracks, and amazing locations.

It’s hard to get a sense of how a racing game will play from a trailer, and even harder when that trailer is mostly cinematics.

Still, Gran Turismo has a long history of being among the best sim-style racers on console, and we can expect a similar level of quality in the new game.

Career mode

Career mode returns!

Well, it might be “Campaign Mode” as Kazunori Yamuchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital, called it. But either way, it’s back!

A home screen that reminds us of GT4 shows off a School, GT World, GT Cafe, Multiplayer, and perhaps most exciting of all… the tuning shop.

Tuning is back

Removed from GT Sport, the ability to tune your car and turn a good road car into a monstrous racer is back.

Spend your credits on new brakes, engine parts, and other components to keep your favourite car competitive for as long as possible.

My GT Team?

Gran Turismo 7 may be the most anticipated racing game at the moment, but far and away the best one is F1 2020.

GT7 could learn a lot from F1 2020. Adding a My Team-style mode that brings more ownership to your career mode would be a welcome step for the series.

There was also a menu shot that clearly had visible Northern Isle Speedway, Blue Moon Bay Speedway, and Willow Springs which will all return from GT Sport. In addition, there’s Daytona, which was in GT6 but is not yet in GT Sport.

There’s also hints at Interlagos, Laguna Seca, Goodwood, Brands Hatch, Dragon Trail, Nurburging and others.
